چکیده

Introduction: The MRI RF body coil transmit field can couple to conductive metal structures such as guidewires and implant leads. This can induce currents along the wire, which can cause heating and safety hazards [1, 2]. In this work, we take preliminary steps in investigating the potential of using an array of transmit surface coils to minimize the current induced on guidewires. We also consider the possibility of generalizing the concept of a transmit array to drive the guidewire with a source of chosen magnitude and phase, as if the wire were an additional array element, in order to null out undesired current induced in it by the imaging protocol.

Assessment of the Characteristics of MRI Coils in Terms of RF Non-Homogeneity Using Routine Spin Echo Sequences

Introduction: One of the major causes of image non-uniformity in MRI is due to the existence of  non-homogeneity in RF receive and transmit. This can be the most effective source of error in  quantitative  studies  in  MRI  imaging.  Part  of  this  non-homogeneity  demonstrates  the  characteristics of RF coil and part of it is due to the interaction of RF field with the material being  imaged...

Vector Iterative Pre-Distortion: An Auto-calibration Method for Transmit Arrays

INTRODUCTION: Transmit arrays hold growing promise for MRI by enabling improved safety, RF homogeneity, selectivity, and pulse acceleration. Yet achieving good performance with complex Transmit-SENSE pulses [1] requires Tx array channels to be characterized, closely calibrated, and decoupled. To address these needs, we propose Vector Iterative Pre-distortion (VIP), a multichannel iterative corr...

3-D RF Coil Design Considerations for MRI

High-frequency coils are widely used in medical applications, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems. A typical medical MRI includes a local radio frequency transmit/receive coil. This coil is designed for maximum energy transfer or wave transfer through magnetic resonance. Mutual inductance is a dynamic parameter that determines the energy quantity to be transferred wirelessly by ele...

Effects of Patellar Taping on the Patella Position in Presence of Quadriceps Contraction in 20-40 Year-Old Women With Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome Using MRI

Objectives: Patellar maltracking is the main reason for pain and disability in patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). Patellar taping can considerably reduce such pain and disability. This study compared the effectiveness of physiotherapy exercises and kinesio taping on the patellar position in women with PFPS (mean age 32.2±1.12 years) by using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: ...

Performance of Target Detection in Phased-MIMO Radars

In this paper, the problem of target detection in phased-MIMO radars is considered and target detection performance of phased-MIMO radars is compared with MIMO and phased-array radars. Phased-MIMO radars combine advantages of the MIMO and phased-array radars. In these radars, the transmit array will be partitioned into a number of subarrays that are allowed to overlap and each subarray transmit...
